Glamis Castle
The stunning architecture and beautiful gardens of Glamis Castle make it one of Scotland's leading visitor attractions. The setting for Macbeth and childhood home of the late Queen Mother, Glamis is tied to the history and myth of the nation.
The turrets of Glamis are instantly recognisable as they are currently featured on the Royal Bank of Scotland ten pound note, but the interior is just as spectacular. The plasterwork is renowned as some of the best in the country and the tour of the castle takes you from the 15th-century crypt to alterations made in the 20th century.
The castle is best known for its legends; from Shakespeare's Macbeth, who was supposed to have lived here, to the Ogilvie family who were bricked in and starved to death in an internal room, the castle is the source of many myths.
