The Merchants House
The Merchants House in Plymouth takes visitors on a journey back in time. A historic building in one of the city's oldest streets, today this 16th/17th-century residence is a mini museum crammed with artefacts, curiosities and photographs.
Visitors can climb the winding stairs of The Merchants House, exploring how life might have been. Look out for the 17th-century Trelawney mantelpiece, gold-painted 19th-century shop front signs, a 19th-century dolls' house, a ducking stool, local truncheons and manacles, a Victorian schoolroom and an entire local chemist's shop, run by the Park Pharmacy Trust.
