Fort George
The mighty Fort George juts out into the Moray Firth north-east of Inverness. A permanent exhibition houses the Seafield Collection of arms and military equipment, providing a fascinating insight into Scottish history.
The fort was built by the Hanoverian King George II immediately after the Battle of Culloden as a place to rally troops in case of another attempted uprising. The artillery fortification is designed to house 2000 men and remains immaculately preserved.
