Perth Festival of the Arts
Perth's annual celebration of the arts presents its vibrant mix of concerts, dance, exhibitions and opera. Perth Concert Hall, Perth Theatre and St John's Kirk are the major venues, but festivities also spill out onto the streets.
First held in 1972, the Perth Festival of the Arts regularly welcomes the calibre of international artists like Dame Kiri te Kanawa. English Touring Opera has also been a repeat visitor, and in 2011's 40th festival, it bring Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito and a Puccini double bill, Il Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi.
Jools Holland joins the celebrations, as does Penguin Cafe, while Alexander Lazerev conducts the Bolshoi Orchestra and violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Steven Isserlis play a recital as well as joining pianist Ian Brown with the Academy of St-Martin-in-the-Fields.
