The Gun

The Gun is a legendary Isle of Dogs boozer boasting a terrace with views over the River Thames and the Millennium Dome. The menu features modern European dishes with a good selection of seafood dishes. The fish and shellfish are handpicked each morning by the chef and his team at nearby Billingsgate Market.

The name comes from the cannon fired at the opening of West India Import Docks in 1802, by which time the pub had been on the site for at least 50 years. Its latest reincarnation dates from 2004 when brothers Tom and Ed Martin completed a nine-month refurbishment, since when it has joined their stable of top gastropubs.

The wine list is divided into flavours ("delicate and aromatic white wines", "rich spicy red wines", "full-bodied and classic red wines") making for easy selection and features wines from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.
