Greenwich Park
The oldest royal enclosed park in London, Greenwich breathes charm with hilltop views over London, Baroque architecture and acres of parkland where fallow deer roam.
Soak up riverside views of the Thames and relax in the scented azalea gardens in spring. Magnolias, dahlias and chrysanthemums also flourish here. A stroll along the Formal Avenues takes in the 1930s tea house, while Lover's Walk is punctuated with with twisted plane trees. For views to Canary Wharf, St Paul's and Tower Bridge, climb to the Royal Observatory which rises above the treetops.
The park is also home to the Queen's House and the National Maritime Museum. Pack a picnic and catch a riverboat to Greenwich Pier from Westminster, Embankment or Tower Piers - it's a wonderful way to while away a summer's day.
