Science Museum
London's awe-inspiring Science Museum uses hands-on displays, gizmos, gadgets and virtual rides on a state-of-the-art trip into past and future. Take virtual photographs, whisper using parabolic reflectors, discover how a satellite works and set a combine harvester in motion.
There are seven fun-filled floors to explore. In the basement there is The Garden, where puppet shows, kaleidoscopes and fibre-optic displays keep little minds occupied.
Don't miss the first floor's weather, agriculture, telecommunications, surveying, time measurement and Challenge of Materials displays, while the Welcome Wing houses the science of the human mind and body in Who Am I?
The second floor is devoted to all things maritime and mathematical - ships, docks and diving, maritime engineering, computing and technology futures - while the third floor investigates natural sciences (geophysics, oceanography, heat and temperature) and both health and science in the 18th century. There are further medical science displays on the fourth and fifth floors.
Also an integral part of the museum's philosophy and attractions are both the IMAX 3D screen and the Dana Centre, a purpose-built resource for adults to engage in, learn about and discuss issues of contemporary science, technology and culture.
