Inverness Floral Hall
Predating Cornwall's Eden project by some ten years, Inverness' Floral Hall opened in 1993. It is a multi award-winning display of exotic flora enclosed under climatically-controlled glass houses.
The indoor oasis includes a moist area of ferns and, the complete opposite, the Cactus House, again an award-winner in its own right. There is also a constantly changing range of seasonal plants.
Outside, the Demonstration Gardens include a rhododendron corner, herbaceous border, scree, alpine and heather beds and a water garden, all complemented by trees and shrubs. The Japanese garden, a haven of contemplative calm, has been added recently while raised beds including tactile and highly-scented plants have been specially planted for partially-sighted and disabled patrons.
The Floral Hall coffee shop offers light refreshments and home cooking.
