Egypt Centre
The Egypt Centre houses the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in Wales, with over 3500 objects from 4000BC to 500 AD. Its staff have some clout amongst Egyptologists, hosting lectures and advising others around the world.
The exhibits are largely made up of part of the collection of the pharmacist Sir Henry Wellcome from the turn of the century. Highlights include a 21st Dynasty Coffin, four New Kingdom beaded collars, pottery coffin lids, an offering table belonging to Paneb, a 1st century AD stela from Edfu, a paddle doll and coffin fragments belonging to Amenhotep, Son of Hapu.
