Tate Liverpool
Highly acclaimed Tate Liverpool is the northern outpost of the Tate Gallery, opened in 1988. Bright white walls are lit by generous windows, looking out onto the water of the Albert Dock and high-profile temporary exhibitions complement those of the Tate's permanent collection.
Housed in a converted warehouse on Albert Dock, Tate Liverpool is not only the city's most important gallery but also recognised more generally as a world-class artistic and cultural attraction.
Among the scores of critically lauded exhibitions that have taken place at Tate Liverpool are Jake and Dinos Chapman: Bad Art for Bad People (2006-7), The Real Thing: Contemporary Art from China (2007) and Joyous Machines: Michael Landy and Jean Tinguely (2009-2010).
Whenever you visit, however, the gallery's extensive permanent collection showcases an array of masterpieces from artists both obscure and adored, and in keeping with Tate's mission of making art accessible to all entry to the permanent collection is always free for everyone.
