Hotels near the Compton Acres

The ten acres of gardens at Compton Acres sit in splendour, with an impressive view of Poole Harbour. They are the brainchild of Thomas William Simpson, who had a vision of creating a garden made up of separate areas, each illustrating a particular style from around the world.

Simpson gathered rare plants, trees, and statuary from across the globe, making every effort to be authentic. He even brought over a Japanese designer and workmen to create the Japanese Garden, complete with Japanese stones and earth.

Today the garden is composed of ten distinct areas, including a Roman Garden with a miniature pool and grotto, an Italian Garden, Canadian Woodland Walk, Indian Tropical Valley, Egyptian Court, Spanish Water Garden, Scottish Heather Dell, Garden of Memory, and the Japanese Garden.

As well as gardens, there are some unique shops, a model railway and plenty of events held throughout the year.
