Divided into different thematic sections, the museum includes: Ancient Life, covering the earliest fossils to the age of the dinosaurs; Life in the Jurassic Seas, which covers the marine world 200 million years ago; Origins of Modern Life, how life developed from the dinosaurs into what we see today; Planet Earth, where you can discover what the Earth is made of and other planets in the solar system; The Mineral Gallery, with a diverse range of displays; Local Geology, covering local rocks and minerals; Dinosaurs and The Burgess Shale, an exhibit about a community of strange animals buried under a mud slide 420 million years ago.
There are also two other exhibits covering Prehistoric Life in East Anglia, from mammoths to hippos, wolves and bears, and The Darwin Collection, with specimens collected by Darwin on 1831 voyage of the Beagle.
