Beacon Fell Country Park
An area of rough moorland and woodland covering 185 acres, Beacon Fell Country Park is in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Designated a Country Park in 1969, it was the first in England to be recognised by the Countryside Agency. Leave the urban stresses of Preston behind and get back to nature.
Beacon Fell itself rises to a height of 266 metres (873 feet), with a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Most of area is coniferous woodland, a contrast to the surrounding moorland area. There are plenty of walks within the park, which are clearly marked and provide easy routes to the summit.
Bowland Visitors Centre, next to the Fell House car park, has information about both Beacon Fell and the Forest of Bowland, as well as a café.
