Hotels near the A Day at York Races

York Racecourse (aka The Knavesmire) hosts regular flat and National Hunt races from May to October. A day out here is a great excuse to dress up, have a flutter and generally enjoy yourself.

Gentlemen heading for the County Stand are expected to turn up in a jacket and tie and many ladies wear hats, although it is not compulsory. Other stands are more relaxed and you can wear what you like. To pick a winner, listen to the "punters panel" held at 1.15pm every race day for some clues.

York is a left-handed racecourse. It has a flat, U-shaped track with a two-mile start at the bottom of Knavesmire. Racing has taken place here since 1731 and events are on different days throughout the season. Please check the website for exact dates and times of races.
