Things to do at Alton Towers
With great kids attractions, over ten roller coasters, eleven themed areas and Splashland (Britain's biggest waterpark), it's no wonder that Alton Towers is Britain's favourite theme park. Ride Europe's first inverted roller coaster, Nemesis, or the world's first vertical-drop roller coaster, Oblivion. If you're brave enough strap into Th13teen, the world's first free-fall drop-coaster, then it is certainly worth the effort, although don't attempt this straight after eating!
Alton Towers visitor tips
Before you leave your Alton Towers hotel take a look at the map and make a plan. The park is huge, and there are rides and areas that you are definitely not going to want to miss. The queues are at their shortest at the beginning of the day as well as right at the end, so think about saving the most popular rides until last. If you don't mind sitting next to a stranger, the single-rider queues move a lot faster than those for groups. Alton Towers also has 'parent queue share policy,' which allows one parent to queue whilst the other entertains the children. Once the first parent has been on the ride, the other can jump on and have a go, without having to queue!
