Yorkshire countryside breaks
Discover the REAL Yorkshire!
Enjoy a Best Western country weekend break in England's largest county and experience the diverse and exciting attractions that cater for everyone and on all budgets.
Yorkshire is highly recommended because of:
- The Gateway to the Dales
- Castle Howard
- Historic York
- The Brontë heritage
Yorkshire is truly awe-inspiring with it's magnificent rolling countryside and National Parks, vibrant and cosmopolitan cities and stunning coastline.
With all this and more there really is something for everyone.
So what is there to do in and around Yorkshire?
Skipton is home to the resplendent medieval castle that dominates the town and acts as a gateway to the 680m² of lush valleys rolling hills and meandering rivers.
Explore the Yorkshire Dales in your own way; drive, cycle, trek, gallop or walk. For the more adventurous amongst you why not challenge yourself to conquer the daunting Three Peaks (the mountains Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside) - they cover 160km2 of upland in the west of the National Park, rising to 736m at their tallest and form part of the Pennine range that runs through the backbone of northern and central England.
Enjoy a spot of retail therapy at one of the many local markets in the area and pick up a bargain.
Slow the pace right down and visit the world of the Brontë's. Set in and around Howarth, see how this amazing landscape formed the imagination of the three sisters and in particular Emily, who penned Wuthering Heights.
Visit the Brontë's home at the Parsonage, now a Museum and see just how these literary sisters lived.
Dominating the Yorkshire skyline, Castle Howard is still the ancestral home of the Howard family. This home was immortalised in TV and film as the location for 'Brideshead Revisited'. Today the house and stunning gardens are available for us all to enjoy.
York is a city of exciting discoveries whether it be the Tudor buildings and cobbled street that forms 'The Shambles' ; the intriguing history and insight of the Jorvic Viking Centre or the chic Parisian style of its café culture.
Wonder at the splendour of York Minster, reputed to be the finest example of Gothic architecture in Europe.
Fancy travelling a little further afield?
The Wolds of Lincolnshire - for visitors that relish the unspoilt and the traditional, then Lincolnshire is exactly what you are looking for; whether city, countryside or coast, you will always find plenty to suit all tastes.
The Peak District is famous for it's dramatic moors and ancient woodlands. At the heart of the Peak District National Park lies Buxton well known for it's therapeutic waters, Georgian and Edwardian architecture.
Yorkshire – simply great days out!
