Torquay Coastal Breaks

Enjoy the high life on the English Riviera

Escape to the elegant coastal resort of Torquay on a Best Western seaside break, stay in one of our friendly coastal hotels and you could easily be transported to the Mediterranean. Feast your eyes on the magnificent Victorian terraces, take a stroll along the palm-fringed promenade or gaze and marvel at the golden sandy beaches.

Torquay is recommended because of:

  • Torre Abbey
  • Torquay Museum
  • The Riviera International Centre
  • Kents Cavern

Torquay is renowned for it's healthy all year round mild climate. It's popular with sun and surf worshippers alike, it is also a highly popular family seaside destination due to it's 22 miles of Riviera coastline incorporating 20 beaches and coves.

So what is there to do in and around Torquay?

Torre Abbey is Torquay’s oldest resident and is situated in a prominent position overlooking Torre Abbey meadows. From here you can also enjoy the spectacular views of the seafront promenades.
It is a vast estate, the Abbey alone has a floor area of nearly 600 square metres, divided into 122 rooms on twenty levels. It consists of two beautiful Grade I listed buildings, four Grade II listed buildings plus an historic garden.

For all you budding detectives, a trip to the Torquay Museum is a must; the only place where there is a permanent gallery dedicated to the life and work of Britain's most loved crime writer – Agatha Christie, who was born right here in Torquay.
Boasting 300,000 specimens, but amazingly only about one percent are on display at any given time. The collections include objects and artefacts relating to natural history, palaeontology, archaeology, social history, ethnography and Torquay pottery.

Let the kids make a splash in the Waves Leisure Pool at the Riviera International Centre. They can have fun on the flume water-slide and ride the waves on the exciting wave machine whilst you sit back and relax safe in the knowledge that your little ones are having the time of their lives.

Kents Cavern is a natural phenomenon formed by water erosion, the caverns and passages were created around two million years ago. The force of the water carved out these amazing features leaving behind what you see today. Evidence exists to show us that these caverns were once inhabited, dating back from prehistoric times.
This award winning attraction draws 80,000 visitors each year.

Fancy travelling a little further afield?

Staying with the family beach theme, you will find beautiful beaches at Babbacombe, Torbay and Paignton all of which have safe bathing, lifeguards, refreshment facilities and lots more besides.

Take time out from your hectic schedule and visit Babbacombe - home to a great big model village or treat your little monkeys with a trip to Paignton Zoo Environmental Park where they can view their favourite wild animals from giraffes to gorillas, cheetahs to crocodiles and lots lots more.
