Bristol City Breaks
Laid Back Bristol!
Imagine a city with a grand historic heritage, a city with a jumping night-life, a city full of narrow streets and dramatic architecture – that city is Bristol!
Take a short city break to the gentle city of Bristol with Best Western and you are guaranteed a memorable stay in one of our friendly hotels.
Bristol is recommended because of:
- The Clifton Suspension Bridge
- Bristol Zoo Gardens
- Brunel's ss Great Britain
- Its diverse shopping culture
Take advantage of a city weekend break and allow yourself to be immersed in a city of outstanding beauty.
So what is there to do in and around Bristol?
You can't visit this marvellous city without noticing its most famous landmark. The Clifton Suspension Bridge unbelievably was Isambard Kingdom Brunel's first major commission, spanning the Avon Gorge (linking Clifton to Leigh Woods in North Somerset). Today, some 140 years after it was constructed you can take a guided tour and explore its visitor's centre.
Bristol Zoo is a great place to visit while you’re here. Whilst it may be comparatively small compared to other city zoos, it certainly doesn't lack content and is really diverse when it comes to animals and plant life. There’s a strong focus here on both education and conservation and you’ll see plenty of species that you won’t find in many other UK zoos, for example, the Pygmy Hippopotamuses and West African Dwarf Crocodiles to name but a few!
Step back in time when you board Brunel’s ss Great Britain and discover the true stories behind the steam ship that changed the world.
Whether you're here on a shopping break in Bristol or just killing time during your stay, you’ll find the usual big high street names as well as smaller, exclusive boutiques – for all you shopaholics - take your pick!
Fancy travelling a little further afield?
Visit historic Bath, famed for its Roman bath houses, and also offering a unique cultural experience with stunning architecture, great shopping and iconic attractions.
If you fancy hitting a beach, look no further than Weston-super-Mare – a great seaside resort in North Somerset. Don your flip-flops and build sandcastles on the beautiful golden sands, eat ice creams on the seafront, or visit the SeaQuarium aquarium or the fascinating Helicopter Museum.
Bristol! So much to enjoy on your weekend city break.
