Welcome BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel & Casino

BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel & Casino is one of the largest 4-star hotels on the Island of Douglas situated just metres from the beach on the beautiful Victorian promenade overlooking Douglas Bay.

Paul Forrest, the hotel manager, tells us all about our latest hotel:

1.)    How long have you worked at the hotel?

I have worked within the hotel, for the Sefton Group for 12 years

2.)    Describe your hotel in 5 words:

Picturesque

Entertainment complex

Friendly

Excellent value

Unique

3.)    What is your favourite part of the hotel?

I’d have to say the favourite part of the hotel is the view overlooking  Douglas Bay, not only does Paragon Restaurant have a stunning view, as does the Palace Health Club and our sea-view rooms.

4.)    What is the one attraction/event/area that you would encourage people to visit when staying at your hotel?

We are very fortunate that we can provide a range of entertainment venues under one roof. We have an on-site cinema adjacent to the hotel, a casino and nightclub within the hotel.

5.)    Tell us an interesting fact about the hotel:

The hotel hosts the only casino on the Isle of Man. The Palace Complex first began on the hotel site in 1887 with the opening of what was then, the largest ballroom in Europe.

6.)    Have you had any celebrities staying at your hotel and if so who?

Sean Connery, famously known as James Bond opened the Palace Casino on 6th May 1966.

7.)    What is your favourite dish served in your restaurant?

We pride ourselves with serving local Manx produce, so I’d have to say that my favourite dish is Manx Kippers served in Paragon Restaurant for Breakfast everyday!

8.)     What is there to do in the local area to keep the kids entertained?

The Palace Cinema is perfect entertainment for the kids, located opposite the hotel. Very close to the hotel, we have the Isle of Man Steam Train and Horse Trams which provide ideal entertainment in the summer months. Over the Island there are plenty of Manx National Heritage sites explaining ‘The Story of Mann’ and the Island’s rich heritage, within these sites there are plenty of interactive activities for visiting families to enjoy.
