From cooking to eating… BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel York has transformed its courtyard into an al fresco dining area! Making the most of our amazing summer sunshine to mark its 21st birthday, this award-winning hotel has transformed its outdoor courtyard into an outdoor eating experience, the key feature of which is an organic vegetable patch and herb garden.
Such environmental sensitivity ensured that the BEST WESTERN Monkbar hotel was the first inner city hotel to be awarded the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) Silver Award; it was also crowned the York’s Press Think Green Business of the Year.
This York hotel isn’t the only Best Western to be celebrated for its green credentials, BEST WESTERN PREMIER Moor Hall Hotel and Spa in Sutton Coldfield has been awarded the SME award for energy efficiency. The SME is a high accolade in the sustainable business world and champions innovation and excellence.
We are also celebrating the ‘green grading’ of our 100th property by the GTBS as part of Green Tourism Week, making us the largest group within their membership. We’ve now set our sights on a new goal – to have half our hotels accredited with gold, silver or bronze in the next 12 months!
The award cabinet at Best Western is deservedly jam packed at the moment, as yet another of our hotels has also been recognised for its achievements; BEST WESTERN Mytton Fold Hotel and Golf Complex in Langho topped the food hygiene ratings with 5 stars, reflective of the impeccable facilities and standards boasted by the hotel.
