The newest hotel to join Best Western is BEST WESTERN The Burnside Hotel, Bowness-on-Windemere. With stunning views of Lake Windemere, this hotel is in a fantastic location to explore the beautiful Lake District. We quizzed the General Manager, Pauline Heaps, to get the inside info on the hotel and the best places in the area.

How long have you worked at the hotel?
22 years. Started as a Leisure club steward, then moved to the hotel reception, then promoted to reception manager, operations manager and now General Manager.

What is your favourite part of the hotel?
Harleys bar conservatory – amazing lake views

What is the one attraction/event/area that you would encourage people to visit when staying at your hotel?
Boat Trips on Lake Windermere

Formerly a private gentleman’s residence in the 1800. Set in its own mature gardens, with amazing lake views

What is your favourite dish served in your restaurant?
Full English Breakfast
