Wining and dining in York
The 16th to the 25th September may well be my most favourite week of the year here in York! I absolutely love food and I like a fine (or not so fine) wine or two, so surely the York Food and Drink Festival is right up my street.
Here is what’s going on to tickle your taste buds in anticipation:
Parliament Street in the centre of York will be full of market stalls selling local produce from Yorkshire sausages to delicious desserts. There will also be free demonstrations taking place in St. Sampson’s Square where you can learn how to whip up a culinary delight with ease.
For those of you who love food (like me) there are tasting workshops from as little as £5, where you can sample some of the best local and regional produce – yummy!
If you still haven’t had enough then you can carry on into the evening for a spot of wine tasting and supper at the Guildhall, where you will get to taste 6 wines followed by pates, salads, quiches and breads.
That all seems like enough for one day, but if you can take on any more food and drink then why don’t you make a weekend break of it? I don’t have enough room at my house to invite you all to stay, but there are some great York hotels in the area to retreat to with a full stomach and a slightly wobbly walk!
