Family Seaside Memories

A beach trip brings back childhood memories of sand between my toes and sand-filled sandwiches as we sit, shivering by the shoreline.

Nowadays, I enjoy taking my own three boys to the seaside where we’ve made some of our best family memories.  We dug holes to reach Australia, buried each other in sand (complete with extra bits), played in the dinghy and body-boarded to our heart’s content but our favourite beach activity is rock-pooling.

Hours have been spent combing for hidden treasures through rock pools with our coloured fishing nets.  Crabs, shrimps (we didn’t cook them on the camp fire and eat them, honest), mussels, limpets, cockles and many other exciting discoveries have been made as we have trawled our nets.

Most importantly, when we’ve collected our wealth of sea discoveries in our bucket, we must show them off!  Carrying them back to my wife (who had to stay with all the bags and read her book, of course) we watched as she feigns delight in our catches.

Shouts of excitement from the boys fill our hearts with a satisfied happiness that no amount of video game playing could fulfil.  The beach is the perfect place for creating those special family memories.

Craving that precious family time? Visit BEST WESTERN Le Strange Arms Hotel in Hunstanton, Norfolk, where you will find the charm of the seaside, complete with sand dunes to roll down and beautiful sunsets, in a peaceful village setting.

Make some family memories.  You won’t regret it.
