Here at Best Western GB, we pride our self on focusing on being eco-friendly. We encourage our hotels to develop sustainability into their hotels, from installing electric car charging points across our hotels in Great Britain. To the following three stories below that shows our commitment to continuing to become more eco-friendly.
Green: Tree Preservation Order No.1
BEST WESTERN PLUS Mosborough Hall Hotel was the first hotel in Sheffield to get an EV charging station for electric vehicles. It’s one of a host of forward-thinking green initiatives at Mosborough Hall, although the team keep things green in more basic ways too: most of the hotel’s handsome trees are protected, with one in particular becoming the honoured recipient of Tree Preservation Order No.1 from Sheffield City Council.
BEST WESTERN Llyndir Hall Hotel has been awarded gold status in the Green Tourism awards. When general manager Ed Duley arrived, he was taken aback to discover that the hotel had been spending almost £1,000 a week on heating oil. By switching to boilers that run on carbon-friendlier LPG (liquid petroleum gas), he slashed the energy costs and saved 85 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year. There are also two charging points in the car park for drivers of electric cars. (Classic car owners: don’t try to plug in your Bullnose Morris…)
Car: Take a Twizy
Fancy a Twizy? No, not a chocolate bar, but an electric car available for hire from BEST WESTERN Forest Lodge Hotel for exploring the New Forest in style. In the hotel’s efforts to keep things green they also offer electric car charging (useful in the circumstances), recycle their waste, and have a New Forest Mark for sourcing as much produce as possible from within 30 miles; in fact, a large amount comes from farms within a five mile radius. The hotel, quite rightly, holds a Green Tourism award.
