This month we are all excited about bees here at Best Western as two of our hotels take them under their wing!
After hearing that one of Britains native creatures, the Honey Bee, was under threat the BEST WESTERN Ufford Park Hotel Golf and Spa in Woodbridge decided to do something about it in their own sweet way. They have installed not one but two bee hives in the hotels conservation area and its now brimming with buzzing Honey Bees. Plus, a local beekeeper and leisure club member at the hotel is now helping out to keep these new additions happy little busy bees!
The sweet nectar of the story is that as soon as its ready this honey will be served on the breakfast table.
In the Midlands the story continues as the BEST WESTERN Premier Moor Hall Hotel also have their own Honey Bee hives. This hotel in Sutton Coldfield has adopted four bee hives just down the road, each with 60,000 bees (although we have struggled to count them all). These bees may look small but they can produce 55kg of honey each year, which is 100 jars of amber nectar for breakfast. So that’s honey on toast, in porridge, in yoghurt, on pancakes, well, everywhere really!
It does not get more locally sourced than this!
