One of Britain’s premier equine events continues this weekend near Oxford.
The annual Blenheim International Horse Trials is in its 18th year, and attracts competitors from as far as New Zealand. Saturday features the cross-country section, while the show-jumping finale takes place on Sunday.
Among 30 riders competing for the first time is 20-year-old local Ed Eltham, riding ‘Bonza Billabong’.
"I have been here every year since I was very young," commented Ed. "In my eyes, Blenheim has always been a big event for the big riders and it is quite amazing and a little overwhelming to be here as one of them."
The event is held in the grounds of Blenheim Palace, one of the largest houses in England. The palace and formal gardens will be open to visitors throughout the weekend.
