Two of the England’s finest buildings are in the running for a major architecture prize, it was announced today.
The shortlist for the Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba) Stirling Prize includes the redesigned Young Vic theatre in London, and the Savill Building in Windsor.
The UK entries face strong competition from across Europe, with the America’s Cup Building in Valencia, Spain, the favourite according to bookmakers William Hill. The other shortlisted buildings are the Casa da Musica in Portugal, the Dresden Station Redevelopment in Germany and the Museum of Modern Literature, also in Germany.
The winner of the £20,000 prize will be announced on 6 October, with the event televised on Channel 4.
