Liverpool 08 begins on 11 January, with The People’s Opening, a free open-air show in St George’s Plateau featuring Ringo Starr. The show is followed on 12 January with a performance of Liverpool the Musical at the new Liverpool Echo Arena.
The arena will also be the venue for The Number 1 Project Live, a concert on 19 January to celebrate Liverpool’s history of number one hit singles.
Other events scheduled for the year include the world premiere of Sir John Tavener’s Requiem, and a large exhibition of Gustav Klimt’s work at the Tate Liverpool.
On 1 June, famous Scouser Paul McCartney and his band will be headlining a concert for 35,000 at Anfield football stadium.
