A Scottish coastal walkway has reopened after an £800,000 programme of improvements.

The path, which was originally built in 1929, links Dundee harbour with Broughty Ferry, a seaside suburb founded by 15th century fishermen. It was officially opened by Jean Silvers, a local resident born in the year that the walkway was created.

The refurbishment work has involved improvements to the sea wall and the replacement of barriers.

According to BBC News, Fraser Macpherson of Dundee City Council commented: "Despite being well used, I think this amenity is perhaps one of the hidden treasures of the city, offering as it now does uninterrupted views across the river to Fife.

"The programme of improvement works has added to the usability and charm of the walkway."
