Bluewater shopping centre has ordered its Santas to get fit before welcoming children to their grotto this Christmas.
The centre is running a boot camp throughout November for the 'fat Santas' who will be working there over the festive period.
The 12 Santas will have to endure a punishing exercise regime including the "Santa sack lift" to shed excess pounds.
Tim Holland, property manager, told BBC News that the staff at Bluewater wanted "to make sure Santa is fit so he can deliver all the presents."
He added: "There's nothing wrong with Santa being the size that he is, we just want him to have a modern day makeover to reflect the realistic demands of being the world's most renowned delivery man."
