A new plan for a road to bypass aberdeen has been revealed by transport chiefs in Scotland.
Details of the proposed aberdeen western peripheral route have been revised after what organisers claim is one of the largest ecological surveys ever undertaken for a UK road scheme. Under the new plans, proposals for a junction at South Kirkhill have been dropped and the number of homes demolished is reduced from 15 to 13.
Graham Edmond of transport scotland called publication of the revised plans a "milestone" in the development of the scheme: "Many months of work have gone into refining these junctions to ensure that they are efficient in terms of traffic flow, cost effective and safe. All of the junctions have been tested against the anticipated traffic conditions 15 years after the opening of the road to make sure they are fit for the future."
The public are invited to inspect the new proposals at a series of exhibitions, where they will also be able to put questions to the scheme’s project team. The consultation period continues until 26 October 2007.
