Warwick Castle

Stay in a Warwick hotel and explore this ancient town that grew up around its medieval castle and had to rebuild itself after a 17th-century fire.

Historic Warwick

From your Warwick hotel, discover the movie-set perfection of Warwick Castle, which has its roots in the 10th century. You can see reminders of how the city was besieged during the English Civil War, including ancient trebuchets used to hurl deadly projectiles at the enemy. Nowadays history buffs can watch more sedate archery and falconry shows. Take a genteel walk past 14th-century Lord Leycester Hospital for memories of the BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The producers couldn’t resist filming in front of this exquisite timber-framed building.

Art and museums in Warwick

You can view a swarm of wasps at the Warwickshire Museum, and catch a different buzz at the Victorian school room and children’s Discovery Room in St John’s House Museum. Kids can dress up as real soldiers at the Royal Warwickshire RegimentMuseum as they practise their parade ground paces to rousing band music.

Quirky things to do in Warwick

Have a go at brass rubbings at one of the best preserved medieval chapels in England, the Beauchamp Chantry, at the 1,000-year-old St Mary’s Church.

Ferret out your best frock for Ladies’ Day in June at the 300-year-old Warwick Races. Warwick Words in March attracts top names in the literary world from Joan Bakewell to Iain Banks.
