Warwick Hotels

A stay in a Warwick hotel puts you in a town dominated by Britain’s greatest medieval castle that towers over the River Avon and pretty timber-framed buildings.
Warwick neighbourhoods
From your Warwick hotel, head west from Warwick Castle grounds to Lord Leycester Hospital, a row of 14th-century poor houses which long predates the NHS. Market Place is a short walk from here and where you’ll see the 1,000-year-old St Mary’s Church. Priory Park lies beyond the Northgate roundabout. Further south, St Nicholas Park and its giant chessboard are bisected by the River Avon. Mill Street in the shadow of the walls of Warwick Castle is the real medieval gem.
Shopping in Warwick
Warwick is a haven for small independent shops. Fashion-conscious bods head for Place and Swan Street, where there is also a farmers’ market. The Smith Street Quarter is the oldest shopping area in town with jewellery and gift shops complementing trendy bars and snug restaurants. The town is so laden with antiques shops you can buy anything from a Corgi Classics toy car to a Georgian clock. Warwick, where Tolkien was married, was used by the author as a template for Edoras and Minas Tirith in The Lord of the Rings. To find more Middle Earth parallels, pick up a copy of the book the second-hand Eastgate Bookshop.
