Weston Park Museum, Sheffield

The October Grin Up NorthSheffield Comedy Festival has hosted big names like Frankie Boyle and Alan Carr. Britain’s biggest Halloween party, Fright Night, takes over the city centre with more than 40,000 visitors dressed as Hagrid lookalikes, zombies, ghosts and Star Wars stormtroopers. The World Snooker Championships between April and May attracts the finest bowtied cue-men.
