Liverpool Hotels

A stay in a Liverpool hotel puts you on the Beatles’ home turf, where you can sing along on the Premier League terraces then hit the bars to paint the town red (or, if you prefer, blue).
Liverpool neighbourhoods
The walkable city city centre has three main focuses. Around Lime Street Station are some of the city’s grandest buildings including St George’s Hall where WS Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan practised law before realising his talent lay in lyrics, not sentences. The area around Bold Street is café-bar land. The Pier Head is dominated by the Royal Liver Building, where you can catch your ferry across the Mersey. South are the renovated Albert Docks, where bars, boutiques and museums like Tate Liverpool cluster in renovated warehouses.
Shopping in Liverpool
The architecturally adventurous Liverpool One complex is the talk of the town, with over 160 stores ranging from hip fashion houses to cool independents. The Cavern Walks designer shopping centre includes WAG hangout Cricket, not far from the reconstructed Cavern Club. At Heritage Market, used in Guy Ritchie’s movie Sherlock Holmes, you can buy anything from a Fernando Torres autograph to a hamster cage.
Eating and drinking in Liverpool
Liverpool’s maritime history has made the city a melting pot of cultures and cuisine. Chinatown is centred on the Berry Street area, while buzzy Hope Street is where the ornately mosaic tiled palace of the Philharmonic Pub serves a traditional pint. At the highest restaurant in Britain, Panoramic on the 34th floor of Liverpool’s West Tower, you can see the Welsh hills on a clear day. To play George Martin and find the new Beatles, check out local bands at the Flying Picket in Hardman Street. Get into the football spirit at Café Sports England on Stanley Street, which is owned by Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
Culture and nightlife in Liverpool
Pre-telly Liverpool had dozens of theatres. The entertainment legacy lives on. The Everyman Theatre, where Pete Postlethwaite and Julie Walters cut their teeth, has always been at the vanguard of northern talent and continues this tradition with just as many new plays as traditional classics. It’s the same story at the Royal Court which specialises in showcasing home-grown playwrights like Willy Russell. At the Liverpool Empire, Swan Lake and sweaty wrestlers jostle side by side on the bill. The Echo Arena on the Kings Waterfront development hosts major acts such as Bob Dylan and Elton John.
