Scarborough Breaks
Scarborough Coastal Breaks
Visit the Queen of the Yorkshire Coast – Scarborough!
With not one but two bays divided by the Castle Headland, it's not hard to see why Scarborough is a truly wonderful destination for your next Best Western seaside coastal break.
Scarborough is recommended because of:
- Peasholm Park
- The Castle
- The Sea-life Centre and Marine Sanctuary
- The Harbour
Scarborough is Britain's first seaside resort and has been welcoming families of all ages for over 360 years. Boasting two stunning child friendly beaches, the south being home to the historic Spa which holds live entertainment and the north bay is home to traditional seaside stalls selling freshly caught cockles and mussels and the bright lights of the amusements.
So what is there to do in and around Scarborough?
Peasholm Park was designed using an oriental theme offering a wonderful system of waterfalls, streams, mini bridges and mystical gardens. There is a huge variety of wildlife including tame grey squirrels, so don't forget your peanuts!
For more than eight centuries, Scarborough Castle has kept a watchful eye over the town. Boasting an elevated position with spectacular views over both bays, this ancient castle has born witness to many a bloody battle – if only these walls could talk.
At the far end of the North Bay is the fun packed yet informative Sea-Life Centre and Marine Sanctuary, home of many exotic and unusual sea critters.
Where the North and South Bays meet lies the Harbour. This pretty working harbour is an explosion of colour where the rustic charm of the local fishing boats meets the catch of the day. Don your sea legs and take a trip on one of the many excursions on offer and see the rugged English coast-line from the sea.
Fancy travelling a little further afield?
The stunning North Yorkshire Moors are right on Scarborough's doorstep where you can enjoy a plethora of walks, drives and activities to keep you and your family entertained.
The picture postcard village of Robin Hoods Bay is also just a short drive away where you can go rock pooling and relive your childhood or simply relax and soak up the friendly Yorkshire atmosphere.
With all this to do and more, you'll be sure to return to Scarborough and its divine surrounding areas.
Oh we do love to 'Bay' beside the Seaside, beside the sea
