Cardiff City Breaks
Croeso i Caerdydd … Welcome to Cardiff
As a Best Western city break, Cardiff is far from your average city!
Cardiff has a diverse mix of modern and ancient buildings which sit together perfectly. The people are warm and welcoming, and there’s a wealth of activities to keep you entertained.
Cardiff is recommended because of:
- Its famous Castles
- The Millennium Centre
- Cardiff Bay
- Millennium Stadium
Cardiff is bustling with historic castles, theatres, museums, art galleries and a vibrant shopping experience. The city itself is evolving quickly, with new attractions, exhibitions and festivals opening all the time!
So what is there to do in and around Cardiff?
Being famous for Cardiff Castle is only part of the story, as Cardiff is home to not one, but five impressive castles. Castell Coch (Red Castle) is an elaborate Victorian folly in the north of the city, Twmpath Castle's remains can still be seen and Llandaff Bishops Palace and St Fagans Castle are still in existence today.
After you’ve visited the 2000 year old castles, Cardiff can bring you right up to date with its ultra-modern Millennium Centre. A cultural centre for performing arts, covering ballet, opera, dance, musicals and comedy, it also boasts shops, cafés and restaurants.
Cardiff Bay and the Cardiff waterfront are fast becoming two of the biggest attractions in Cardiff. The Bay is fed by two rivers (the Ely and the Taff) and together they form a 500 acre freshwater lake around the former dockland area south of the city centre.
If that isn't enough to tempt you, Cardiff also offers world class shopping, with all the popular high street names as well as big designer retailers and small, fashionable boutiques. So there’s something for everyone!
Fancy travelling a little further afield?
Margam Country Park in Port Talbot is the ideal location for your chance to spot wildlife or simply stroll through the 850 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.
A short distance from Cardiff and yet a world away from the busy city lies the Gower Peninsula. This varied and wonderful landscape is home to ancient ruins, medieval churches, iron age fortifications and prehistoric standing stones. There’s plenty to keep you busy here!
Barry is a traditional seaside town that offers several sandy beaches and the Barry Island Pleasure Park, offering hours of entertainment for adults and youngsters alike!
If this is your first visit to Wales – Cardiff will not fail to impress!
