Disability discrimination act statement
The following is statement on behalf of Best Western Hotels regarding the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2004:
Best Western is the largest group of independently owned and managed hotels in Great Britain. Whilst Best Western does not own or operate any hotel within the group, it is our objective to ensure all our member hoteliers are aware of the requirements of the DDA 2004 and are given the necessary support to help achieve compliancy.
Each Best Western hotel is independently inspected on an annual basis to ensure consistency of standards throughout the portfolio. A selection of Best Western Quality Assurance assessors have been trained by the Disability Partnership (IndividuALL) on the DDA 2004 and - in conjunction with external bodies - are offering our hoteliers guidance to help them work towards meeting the requirements of the Act.
At Best Western, numerous initiatives are underway to help ensure all our customers receive the same treatment, regardless of ability, for example, a complete review of all marketing literature is being undertaken, whilst work is ongoing on all Best Western websites will be made WAI compliant to at least Single-A standard. Once the work has been completed we will issue a list of the changes and modifications we have made.
A selection of Best Western hotels offer facilities suitable for disabled guests. These facilities are highlighted in their hotel entry and have been independently inspected. In order to ensure all hotels meet our guests' needs, anyone requiring special facilities should highlight their requirement at the time of booking with either Best Western central reservations or the hotel directly.
Best Western operates a non-discriminatory equal opportunities policy on all aspects of employment, regardless of disability. Our aim is to recruit, retain and develop the best people for the job based solely on their abilities. This policy applies to all existing and potential employees.
