In March 1999, Best Western UK and Consort Hotels merged to form the largest group of independently owned hotels in the UK with over 280 members and over 16,000 bedrooms throughout Britain.
Annually, each Best Western hotel completes an independent inspection (by the AA) for quality and service and undergoes a stringent 1000-point inspection scheme which is carried out by a Best Western Quality Assurance assessor to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
The hotels within the Best Western portfolio are predominately three-star rated, however a fine collection of quality two and four-star hotels are also included in the Group. Each hotel has to achieve an above average rating within its star classification to achieve or retain membership within Best Western.
